Default SAFC (searched)

i have a friend who is selling his SAFC for $100 and it was only used 3 months. well i have a gsr w/ I/H/E and some other stuff in my sig and was hoping that it would help out a little. well my plan is to save up and go turbo in the early summer so would i need this down the road or is it a waste of money? and i have a shop near me that can dyno it to get the best results.

Playing with the VTEC crossover isn't really that important for a turbo car unless you change the cams. Otherwise the majority of the tuning is done with a/f ratios, and in that area the SAFC is actually a bit more flexible than the VAFC.

For now if you install it, it's obviously not going to do anything until you tune it on a dyno. For when you get a turbo what you can do is run some higher flow rate injectors like RC 440s or DSM 450s and a better fuel pump, then set the AFC to -40% fuel trim across the board and it'll run pretty nice. Of course that's a preliminary setting and it will still run better after tuning.

thanks fatbooty, i was reading other posts about the afc and you always say put it at 40% and it will be good. would it make a difference on my car at all w/ intake header exhaust and tuned on a dyno. i know a place that can get it for 60/hr and maybe 50 is i bs w/ them enough. but would it give me any extra hp or better gas mileage at the least? or any tips on what i should set it at when i get it, or should i put it back to the stock reading and just adjust it when its on the dyno? thanks

I wish I could find an SAFC for $100.

You should snatch that up even if you don't want to use it. Or give me his contact info.h:

Tuning it right now would at the very best make the car run a little more smoothly, maybe get a mpg or two better, and run smoother while making maybe 5 hp more.

If you feel like dropping 60 bucks it couldn't hurt.
