Default Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley

Im trying to get the tensioner pulley off of my b18b. Everytime i try to get the bolt off of it tho it starts to strip it. Is there a trick to getting it off. Any info would help. Thanks:thinking:

The only trick I know is using a 6-point socket (not 12-pt) and holding it straight & square to the bolt. If you've already rounded off the head of the bolt, you're gonna have fun getting it off. When you do, get a new bolt...

its not rounded off yet. it slipped like twice and then i stopped. Ill just keep trying i guess

i had the biggest pain in the ass trying to get mine off too! the only thing i know is to use a 6 pt socket instead of a 12 pt like jimblake said:dunno: sorry i couldnt be more helpful

Most sockets are kinda rounded at the end. The best thing would be get a 6-pt socket, and grind the end down just enough so it's sharp & square inside. Then hold it in hard against the bolt as you try to loosen it. Yes, I know there isn't enough room to get in there & hold it...

Ummm - counterclockwise! That bolt IS a right-hand thread.

if you end up stripping it pick up some stripped bolt removing sockets from craftsman 10-15 bucks totally worth it

buy a set of snap-on flank drive sockets. you wont have this problem any more!
