Default Tire choices...

I need new tires on 94-95 GSR rims.

I'm looking for something that will perform well (thinking of trying auto-x) and quiet (sick of road noice).

Any suggestions? Should I consider something besides the stock tire size?

Thanks in advance for any opinions or tire reviews.

It mainly depends on your budget, most common driving environment, and purpose, among other things...

for auto-x you cant go wrong with the Falken Azenis, but for daily driving, they arent that great to drive on wet roads, and they tend to make a lot of road noise. Still, for the price especially, they are awesome tires.

for all around driving and the budget minded, the Yokohama AVS ES100's are great tires too.

if you want the best of the best, look into the Kumho Ecsta MX, or my personal favorite, the Bridgestone Potenza S-03.

Was just reading some good reviews on the Falken Azenis and am considering them.

The stock tire is 195/55/15. I can only find the Azenis in 205/50/15. Will that fit properly?

Any sites with good tire reviews? I'm looking for something with decent life and good performance. Not driving in snow and will be driving carefully in wet weather.

yes, the 205/50/15 will fit fine. try to find that size instead of the 195/55/15, since the 205 is a wider tread.

www.tirerack.com has extensive reviews on all sorts of tires. read their reviews on the Bridgestone Potenza s-03...

Most people switch to 205/50-15 from the stock size. A little wider, a little thinner sidewall. The Kumho MX is a great wet/dry tire that's relatively cheap. The Falken Azenis is even cheaper and a little better in the dry but as said before there are better tires in the rain.

The Yoko AVS ES100 is a good tire if you want a little more tread life and ride comfort in exchange for less grip than the stickiest tires.

I am also debating wether to get the Falkens or the Yoko. How much thread life does the Azenis average on? And is there a reason why it is not good on wet roads? Well I am looking into more of, how bad is it exactly on wet roads..

If you're in Arizona then I can't imagine that you could ever get enough rain to worry about the wet traction of the Azenis.

Kumho Ecsta 711. I dont wanna degrade any other tire, but I speak from personal experience, as well as a number of close friends and acquaintances that these tires suck, despite them being "good" for the first 1000 miles or so.

94CivicEX had one blow up on him, but luckily at low speed, or something of that manner.
