N/A or Turbo, All Comments Welcomed

Alrite, it seems turbo is the cheaper way to go. How does Turbo on a VTEC motor sound? Is that something we should not do, because I have heard many said the LS is the best way to go if you wanna turbo.

Like he said. What is your power goal? Mine is about 200 whp, so I plan on swapping out my b18b for a b18c5 and then going from there. Sure I can do this easily with a turbo, but I think the ITR motor will be more reliable since the motor already makes 195 at the crank and some bolt-ons (complete exhaust, cams) and good tuning will give me the extra 30 or so hp to reach my goal.

Well personally. I am going to build up my teg as N/A as far as it can go then i am going to slap a turbo on it. That way i should be able to run pretty high boost and not have my engine blow up. And what ever you do dont forget the old saying

that is true vtec and turbo's do not mix well. Because the LS engines have lower compression. If you look at the guys that drag race their teg's (not the weekend racers but the pro's) they all have LS engines. That is the route i am going. But my challenge is going to be trying to keep it streetable.

If you can afford to go all motor then go that route. If money were no object that is the way I would go. If you go with forced induction then you have to pick if you want a supercharger or turbo. If you want more power go for turbo, but if you want power at the low end and throughout the powerband go for a supercharger.

A stock-internal B18B running the highest safe amount of boost will always make less power than a stock-internal B18C running the highest safe amount of boost. And all that needs to be done to the B18C to make it safe to run more boost (assuming you're not making enough power to over-stress the rods) is to lower the CR to 9.5:1 by swapping in B18B pistons.
Yes, the lower CR of the B18B does make it more forgiving to sloppy tuning with boost but it does not make more power. This is because the B18C head flows far better than the B18B head, and the VTEC switchover still adds to the power even if you're running a turbo.
