Im really thinkin about purchasing a DC LS or GS-R. What year is the first year of the OBD-II motors? 96? Also, would OBD I or II be better for an everyday-street racer? Any advantages/disadvantages? Ive heard go OBD-I, its easier to work with? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
96 was the first year for the OBD-II motors. OBD-I lends itself a little better to upgrades. It's a less complicated system and tends to handle changes/upgrades easier. Hope this helps ya.
This is an overexaggerated internet myth. There is no difference in performance between the OBD-I and OBD-II ECUs. The only effective difference is what sort of ECU upgrades are possible with each system. Regardless of which one you choose it is still completely possible to have a completely tuned car.

in utah if the light is on they will not evan look at your car no matter the year... if your really paranoid just pop the cluster and remove the bulb do the inspection then put it back in.
