I had the Skunk2 knob, it was awesome. It was pretty heavy, so good for smooth shifts. Combined with the Skunk2 SS, it was a pretty sweet combo. You can get them both for about $150.

How can I see the look of the shaft but not have the bottom area all open and stuff?
There's usually a clip at the inside of the hole in the shift boot that holds the boot to the shifter. You could try and take that clip out so the boot just chills down at the bottom of the shifter instead of covering the whole thing.

The stock shifter's painted black though, it's not nice CNC-machined aluminum like the skunk2 bits.

It doesn't hang down. The shifter gets thicker towards the base so the hole in the boot rests on the lower part of the shifter.

FatBooty's right, I forgot that only B&M makes the "one size fits all honda's shifter" (*sarcasm*). I like the short throws of my shifter, and since i have long arms i dont mind that the shifter doesnt have the double bend. Mine doesnt rattle, by the way.

I don't like the "ball-shaped" knobs... I have a DC SS and with it's reduced height, I prefer the long "cylinder" shaped knobs because it goes well with the way I shift into 3rd... just push forward between my thumb and pointer finger. I've never miss-shifted 3rd into 1st and blown up my engine yet...

ok, so I decided to order the Skunk2. $46.55 at www.tornactive.com

Most places had it for between $40-60. Even ebay was $35-50 +$10-20 jsut for shipping. Bastards.

So I think I got a good deal, more on the lower side of the price ranges I've seen.
