Default Redline on an LS

Hello all, my friend just put an LS motor in a 96 civic and we are not sure where redline is on the motor. Please let me know so We can officailly prove that I can beat him.

Thanks

Depends on the year of the motor. For an OBD II (96-on) B18B, the redline is 6800rpm.

Then, if memory serves, the redline is at 6400.
At any rate, you're looking at about 135hp at ±5900 or so out of that motor.

A rough estimate.

142 hp @ 6300 rpm
127 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm

Redline should still be 6800 rpm, however fuel cutoff is 7400 rpm I believe, whereas on the 96+ it was 7200 rpm. Anyhow, I wouldn't take it much past 7k, you arent making power up there anyways.

I dont go that high up that often but last time I remembered that it was NOT 7200, more like 7000 rpm...maybe its just my tach or car. :dunno:

I own a 94 LS, where you see the "red" on the tach is where you're going to hit the fuel-cut-off.... about 6800RPM.
