Default AutoX and first gear questions?

Went to my first AutoX today, and I absolutely loved it. Most fun I have had in my car since I bought it.

I have a question about downshifting to 1st gear. Durring autocross, there was about two straight aways that I really needed to be in second gear, the rest 1st should have been the gear of choice.

After I shift to second, I can not for the life of me get it back into fist unless I am going REAAALY slow (and yes I am rev matching). Seams all the integras I have driven, have this problem/safety, any way around it? Does the ITR/SI tranny have this safety too?

Thanks in advance

Double clutching seems to do the trick for me, but I haven't tried to do it during autocross conditions.

Hmm, I will have to try letting the clutch out. I really shouldn't have to do that since it has syncro's, just revmatching should be enough. But if it works, its better than staying in 2nd

1st gear does not have syncros. If your going at a speed that first gear can handle you just have to rev the **** out of the motor to get it into first gear. I've never had a problem doing it before, even at a auto X. In a GSR if your going 30 mph for example, thats like 6,500 or 7,000 rpm. High isnt it. I suggest doing it only on hairpin turns though, otherwise its faster just to stay in 2nd.

I had to go into 1st around the two 180's on the course I ran on, I just revved it up real good until it would go into 1st.

Well when you're doing ~20mph around a 180 and you need to power out, you don't have much choice if you don't want to bog and want any kind of decent times. I didn't have much trouble getting mine into 1st as long as I brought the revs up enough.

Guess I wasn't reving high enough when I was trying to get it into 1st. There were definetly two turns where I would bog every time.

Thanks for the tips

yeh just rev the snot out of it, should be fine. I always get wheel spin when I downshift into first on the auto x course though...and massive torque steer lol
