Yep, don't downshift, just open the throttle and wait around for your turbo to spool.

Unless you have a rally anti-lag stutterbox, but well, no one does.

 

In 2nd gear I think boost would come on just fine. First gear isnt exactly an easy gear to drive your car around it. it can be very jerky if your not smooth with the gas pedal. You would probably upset the suspension of the car more trying to stay in 1st gear all day than shifting to 2nd.

StyleTeg, yes being in 1st gear would be faster than being in 2nd gear only if:

you never went faster than 40mph, you were a smooth driver.

1st gear obviously lets you use all 170hp easier than 2nd gear so it would be faster in and out of turns than 2nd. Its just a ***** to drive in 1st gear and on most auto x courses you are going faster than 40mph.

 

If you are low enough in the powerband to consider shifting to 1st, it is going to take awhile to spin up your turbine.

 

Its not spooled by 4k? That would suck.

Lets put it another way, if your running a turbo on your integra, and your autocrossing it you will already have the knowledge where you need to be in the gears =) If not, then your going to be way over your head in whatever class your running hehe. Watch out for those 510's

 

There really was only two points on the course where I got past 40mph.

 

It isn't just the RPM, the turbo spins down way faster than the engine.

You'd really need a properly sized turbo, which won't be had in any of the available kits.
