they just passed this law a few months ago. the reason they banned it is becuase it blinds other pussie....er people on the road. It is illegal to have it installed in your car. They are even pushing to have every manufacturer replace every HID unit with a standard Halogen unit, even the ones that were sold years ago. They are making a huge fus about it in courts. :fawk:

The law that passed a few months ago was to stop the sale of HID kits in the US. They are trying to pass other laws, but it is not going to happen. HID is a far better technology and illuminates the road better at night making night driving safer. The people that get blinded by HIDs either a) are just jealous they do not have them, or b) should not be driving at night.

^^^ if what you say is true then why even mention doing an HID conversion if you can no longer buy them?

I'm still not even sure if there was any actual law passed, because there are still places selling them. I have Phillips HID, and while it's awesome (and looks completely like OEM HID from afar, and if it looks OEM it won't attract cops' attention), OEM HID projectors would be way better. And so once again, I will now be spending more money to do what I should have done in the first place, and that is OEM HID retrofit. I'll be doing it along w/ a 98+ front end conversion. All I need is projectors and bulbs, and I will be able to use my current Phillips ballasts.

*edit* I have been pulled over 2 or 3 times since I've had the HID and the cops have never said anything about it... they did however on 2 occasions say that having Honda emblems is wrong. :madfawk:

ok back to the 9005 conversion. couldnt you just go to a junk yard, find 9005 harnesses, cut them off as well as the 9006 on the low beams, then just splice the 9005 harnesses on? I think that would be much easier than modifying the bulb every time u have to change it.

You are not allowed to sell them in the US. Nothing prevents you from buying them from a company located outside the US though
