Default valve body screw

I stripped the grove off the valve body screw. Not the screw on the valve cover but the place where the screw screws into on the main valve body. What is the best thing for me to do. I don't know if they can repair it or if I have to get a whole new engine block. by the way I have a 1998 Accord Coupe. I really need to know what to do. The screw doesn't screw the valve cover in now and I am afraid that something might happen to it. Oil might leak out or something. Also could you recommend a shop to do it. Thanks

a few months ago i stripped out a bolt that hold my valve cover on, and i just used some of that "make your own gasket" stuff to hold it in place. the bolt has a gasket and stuff on it, and it hasn't leaked any oil since i fixed it a few months ago. just put some of that stuff in the hole, put your parts together, then let it dry. as long as there's not too much force pulling the screw out, it'll be fine.

What are you talking about? The valve body on the automatic transmission? Or where the valve cover screws onto the cylinder head?

Where the valve cover screws onto the cylinder. The one on the cylinder. The one you see when you open the hood that has the Honda and Vtec on it. The screw is not messed up the hole on the cylinder body is the one that is stripped. I cannot screw the screw into the hole because the grove is mostly gone.

ehh drill it out a little more tap the hole and install a slightly bigger screw with the same thread u just tapped, no need for a new one, any shop will surely rip u off and take ur money to do this easy fix, i personally go to midas whenever i have to get engine work done but i have yet to know a good shop that will do things for a "fair" price. if u lived near me i could take care of it for u.

Like crxb16er said either use a bigger bolt or just helicoil it. Not putting you down but judging by your terminology, I would spend a few dollars and get it done right by a good mechanic rather than risk messing up the cylinder head.

if its not possible or practical to go with a larger diameter hole, then id suggest filling the hole with jb weld or some other cold weld compound and then drilling it out to the specified hole diameter and then tap it with the same thread and diameter size the original bolt was and when u do it use some type of thread locker like Lock-tite or other over the counter permenant adhesive.
