Default a 96 civic DX head -- to a 96-00 single overhead vtech

I was wondering i got a 96 civic DX and some guy is selling a 96-00 Civic single overhead cam vtech head This head had a three angle vavle job, was ported, polished and milled. Was used for appox. 2000 miles. would this be worth putting in my civic. and is this something i could do myself and how hard would it be to do? also is there anything else i would need in order to install it? thanks please let me know

You would need to run an oil line to it, and some way to control the VTEC crossover(VTEC ECU, RPM switch, VTEC controller, etc).
If you can get it for cheap, go for it.

You wouldn't have to run an external oil line. Just remove the pressure jet from the deck of the block prior to installing a VTEC head.

You need the 96+ Civic Ex head gasket, timing belt.

You should replace the waterpump as well. Also see if you can the intake manifold. It will flow better.

Why would you change the dist.? Put the head on with new gasket, timing belt, and waterpump. I'd say just get a Vafc for VTEC fuel enrichment.

If you've never changed a head then go ahead and look at all day.
