Default Help with Oil Pressure guage!!

Hey, i got an electric Autometer oil pressure guage for my car. When i installed it, i used a T fitting with the sender on the back and the sending unit on the top ..the other going to the block. I installed the fittings using Rectorseal to prevent leaking. Well, this worked for about a week and now it is leaking from where the fitting meets the block. What kind of sealant do i need to seal the sending unit????? Thanks!

Permatex/Hondabond, or teflon tape.

Can you buy the perotex stuff at an autoparts store?? If not, can the teflon tape withstand the pressure and temperature of the oil. Also the vibration of the motor? Thanks

Permatex makes high-temp silicone sealant. You can find it at most auto parts stores. Most of them are rated for oil, and varying temperatures. Either the blue or orange stuff should be fine, just look for something rated for oil and 200+ degrees C, although even that should be overkill. Teflon tape should also work fine. As for vibration, if you're worried about the tee assembly/sender snapping off in the block, then you should run a line fromt he stock sender location to the firewall, and then attach the tee assembly there in order to isolate engine vibration.

Steel braided line, but either will work as long as you give it enough slack to compensate for the vibrations of the motor. WIth the stock wire connected to the stock oil pressure switch, if i need to lengthen it to fit the "t-fitting" on the firewall, how would i do that????

Solder, or some sort of crimp connection if you're lazy.

This is for a turbo feed, but you get the idea:

Just omit the 48" line and some of the fittings if you're just plumbing for an oil pressure guage.

That's not my setup, but it should work pretty well. I'm running a GReddy oil filter block adapter with a length of 1/8" nylon tubing going to the firewall, where my GReddy oil pressure sender is. Then my turbo feed is screwed directly into the stock oil pressure sender location. Since it's just the feed line itself, with an AN>NPT and NPT>BSPT adapter, there isn't much weight there, like there would be with the tee and stock sender, It's been working great.
