If you don't even know what head you should look at getting to do an lsvtec, you probably shouldn't even think about doing it. Research and reading is your friend, a properly done lsvtec will roxors, poorly done and you'll be out about $1600 or so and a B18.

Could someone explain the benefit of doing the LS/VTEC hybrid? I know that the bottom end on the LS has a ladder-frame main-truss, but I'm in the process of having one machined for my C1 (which is way cheaper than swapping the head). That's the only real advantage I can think of off the top of my head, plus the C1's oil delivery system seems much more efficient, especially when mated with the C5 oil pump (more stable pressures at higher RPMs).

It sounds like you could pick up a B18C1 for the price of what you pay to do the head-swap.

are you talking about the main girdle? b18a/b's dont have one. only b18c's do.

i hope you're aware that ALL 96+ b series oil pumps are identical

the one advantage of an lsvtec is the b18a/b's slightly longer stroke resulting in a little more torque earlier in the powerband. combined with a better flowing vtec head and the right parts you can have a very nice, flat powerband that makes power into the higher rpm's.

The oil pump may be identical, but the oil delivery in the B18C/1/5 is through oil jets positioned directly below the cylinder, whereas the B18A/B uses the more traditional method. And, my integra is not a 96+, so I swapped the oil pump for another one.

That is good to know, I had heard something about wrist-pin height being the big difference.
