Default Hesitation & Jerking

Any help or advice will help.

i have a 91 Accord EX-R 5spd with 270K km
when driving i noticed lack of power and hesitation and jerking as if the engine is gonna fall off when i accelerate...the jerking happens at times but the lack of power is at all times.

when the jerking happens i easy off the accelerator and that usually helps and when start pushing the accelerator its starts jerking again.

i took it to the honda dealer and they said it could be a number of things and i really can't afford it. if anyone knows the exact thing or what i should replace first, second, third then i can try with one thing see if the problem is fixed if not i'll go on to the next until i can resolve it....

please any advise will help...

desperately need my accord until next yr.

thanks

Default Could be the fuel pump!

I had the same problem with a nissan sentra and i changed just about everything and nothing would work. then the same thing happened to my hybrid civic and i changed the fuel pump and the problem stoped. the fuel pump was the only thing i did not change on the sentra! Figure that one out! But check everything before u change the fuel pump it could be pricy! Good luck.

I have the same problem.

It only happens when the engine is cold (i.e morning), happens at the bottom of my street and then goes away for the rest of the day. Kinda unprdictable when turning out of my street, it's like the fuel cuts completely out or something. The car starts
bucking and stuttering.

I did the following:
Plugs
wires
fuel filter

honda4life did you ever figure out the problem?

The first thing i'd check would be the engine code. If it isn't H22A, you're in big trouble....

Seriously tho, it might like an ignition problem, check cap, rotor, plugs wires. You could check your gap (I think thats what its called, where you see how strong your spark is, a little help here guys). It sounds more likely like a fuel problem though. Is your ECU tossin any codes?

Mine does it also, but only when it's cold. People usually laugh at me at school because they think I'm about to stall the engine. What I do to fix it is run it up to about 6000rpms a couple of times and let it slowly rev down. After I do that it usually runs fine.

My car isn't spitting any codes... If my o2 sensor is bad, will
the car spit a code?

Rev till 6000 RPM??? I'll try it...see if it helps.

I'm putting in new pulgs in a sec here...

With that many km's you might want to just let it warm up like you would a carbeurated car.

I changed the
O2 sensor,
Fuel Filter,
and still the same problems.

finally i changed the Catalytic COnvertor and now all my problems are gone.
the CAT was completely blocked we put a light and looked thru and couldn't see the light on the other side.

if you still have a problem go to a muffler place where they can take out the CAT and have a look (won't cost much) 10 min job.
unless u have the tools.

if you can see light thru the CAT ur ok...otherwise change the CAT. If u don't it will ruin ur O2 sensor as well.

the Original CAT at honda is about $1100 CDN ouch!!! i got the jobber for $250 cdn installed.
