Hesitation & Jerking
#12
kangarod, why did you say if it isnt h22a you have a problem? are you talking about the h22a's being jerky and hesitant during normal driving? cause I experience this...... I also experienced the same thing honda4life did on my 93 integra but it was less of a problem, just a bad fuel filter....

Umm...Well, I'm not sure, I was refering to the fact that if he doesn't have a H22 in there, he should put one in. I'm not sure of my exact chain of thought at the time, but it doesn't seem to be the best chain of thinking right now.....

I have potentially the same problem w/ my 92 Civic Si. The car has developed a hickup every so often in 1st & 2nd gear.
the car bucks a little in those gear. Not smooth engagement anymore. @ Speed, every thing seems fine.
I notice occasionally, not all the time, a slight skip in the idle.
It doesn't feel like it will stall but is annoying & makes me feather my clutch a little too much for my liking.
Also noticed a sulfur smell eminating from exhaust after exiting recently. & lots of ticking noises from exhaust after engine shut down & exhaust rattle @ cold start. Don't know if these things have an affect...
Spark plugs & fuel filter have all been recently replaced. K&N shortie Air Filter cleaned recently. Otherwise, all stock.
Any insights would be gr8! Thanks.

I’ll post some pics tomorrow of some pistons that failed due to a cold seizure and let you see what can happen

- caylan you may want to check your cat. the sulfur smell is probably from your cat and sometimes signals a bad cat. exuast ticking is normal when the car is off after running because the system is cooling down, but if this is not something that you experienced before, your cat may be clogged causing hot exuast gasses to build up in your system.

told that when they get clogged, your car will stink.
With me, when I changed the plugs, I noticed there
was oil on em and also the sp wrench. I replaced
the plugs and the tube seasl, and my car hasn't bucked
since.
I'll have to keep an eye on it though...I'm hoping thats
the only place oil is getting in.

I know a new cat cost an arm & a leg but what about a clogged cat? thanks!

I would advise against this. An engine is made up of many different types and grades of metal, all that were designed to work in conjunction with one another. When the manufacture built the motor they tailored their design spec around the fact that the engine would be run at operating temperature. We all know that when you heat metal it expands, right? Running the motor at 6grand cold is going to cause certain things to expand faster than others. Also, your oil will not be as viscous and may fail to lubricate certain parts of the motor that would normally be okay under operating temps.
