Default Help prove a point to Mustang owners!!!!!!

I am new to the import modification world and recommended to visit your site. I've already build a 5.0L Mustang w/ nitrous(11.64@131mph). But after a few smart ass words from some buddies at the track I'm now interested in a new project car. A V8 is easy to make fast, however I'm impressed w/ the power you all are getting out of motors half the size. So, I'm looking for ideas and I need all of your help. I need to prove a point to some Ford guys...PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Donor Car: 1990 Honda Accord EX (F22A4 2.2L) Auto Trans.
Goal: Want the car to appear stock(on the outside, they'll just have to wonder what's under the hood) and sound as quiet as possible, but I don't want it to run like a stock Accord.

1) Can I rebuild the existing motor w/ the same tricks as a V8?(higher compression, valve machining, cam, etc...)
2) Should I swap motors?(open to swaps that will drop right in)
3) I've been told that it is possible to swap the existing motor for a Prelude motor with out changing wiring or engine mounts, is this true?
4) Is nitrous a wise power adder for a Honda motor?

nitrous plays two main roles, it plays the ignorant stick and the smart mans go fast gas if you know what i mean. the horsepower queens though are turbo charged, and you would probably be better off swaping in a h22. if you do machine work, go ahead and get the pnp and 3 angle valve job if you are gonna boost, other wise, i wouldnt worry about it. gl, Steven.

1) Yes most of the same rules apply to the imports as do the domestics. more fuel+more air= more HP
2) and 3) For the money the prelude H22 swap is probably going to be your best bet. There is little wiring that needs to be done and it is almost a direxct bolt in to the '90-'93 accord (from what I know). This will give you around 200hp to start with and around 160tq
4) I've always lived by the rule that unless you upgrade the fuel system or like rebuilding your motor you should only runa shot of nitrous that is half of what the stock motor puts out origionally (ie 100shot on a 200hp stock motor, 75shot on 180hp motor..etc)

heres your options

under 5k
h22 /w manual swap: 14-15 second car

under 8k
above with turbo at 8 psi: ?? second car, really fast, unreliable

Above 8k
rebuild h22 and then turbo.... get n older h22, from like a pre 95? ( i think thats the year it went to shit...) and you should be able to get 300 whp... just remmber you're gunna need to upgrade everything else too... should be like fast ass car

First of all welcome.
It's going to take some decent power to make that car fast, had you started with a lighter car it would be easier.
IMO your best bet is to keep the motor you have, sleeve it, and build it(rods pistons) then boost it. The h22 (prelude) is a simple drop in and it makes more power then the stock motor but it's limited in power production in stock form due to the factory pistons. If you have the money the best option would be to swap to a h22, sleeve it build it and turbo it.
If you went with the stock motor built you could easily make 400+whp. That should be enough to make your car quick.
I don't know much about n20 so I cant povide much info for you there. I prefer turbo's over any other method of power production.
As far as making an all motor high compression motor, IMO it's not worth the money. If you have the budget you can get some decent power out of honda motors N/A but it takes a light car to run low E.T's.
You don't get the gains in a 4 cylinder like you do in a v-8. Most honda motors are already what you would consider high compression (the accord is an exception i believe your motor is about 8.5:1) My motor stock is 10.2:1 compression, add 13psi or so and thats my car...

Build your motor, piece together a nice turbo set-up and you should be ready to run some decent times. What kind of budget are you working with?

Oh and your going to want to ditch the auto tranny, it won't hold up to the kind of power that you'll be needing to make.

If you're good at machining and such you can take the DOHC VTEC head off of the H22 and place it on your F22 block. This setup made like 180whp and 160wtq. You'll need to check the HondaTech forums I think? Check the Accord section, a guy named bubbarub or something will know more about this.

And since you'd be swapping heads, you might as well rebuild the block and head for a turbo. Turbo a frankenstein and you should get 300whp.

Nice to see a domestic owner with an open mind... seeing that imports arent as bad as many make them out to be...

If you want to see a nice car, look around for 2point6... he has totally reworked an h22, and he is fast as anything... full interior on a 4dr.

You could also build up the engine that is in there, which is an f22a4.. and turbo it for not too much money. Just search around the sites, and you should find plenty of help and ideas.

Its more work with imports than it is with domestics, welcome to the labor force. Best bet to sound stock go NA...build a K24A out of the new TSX and mate the top end off the RSX-S to it. Drop that little bitch in your car with and intake, exhaust (bigger piping a quiet muffler (invidia G200), cam gears, ground wire system, hyper voltage, hondata #4 and K-pro. You will easily impress them with this setup...if not, they are deaf to the level of technology that is involved with these cars and should be shot in the knee caps until they admit it. the TSX K24 already has the same head as the RSX-S. its the accord, element and CRV K24's that have the cheaper head.
the TSX has the throttle-by-wire that has to be dealt with, or get a cheaper K24 and find the type-s head seperately.
