Default 96 GSR vs a mitsubishi.......

Hi guys. I was wondering if you could help me out with a dillema I have. First off, I have a 96 GSR- CAI, headers, exhaust, and other minor mods.

And this guy with an Eclipse wants to race me... he claims hes all stock turbo (I was told by sum1 else Cyclone Turbo... if they even come stock w/intake exhaust, headers). He said he was gonna give me a few cars head start... and were only laying down $25.

Should I do it?

I wouldn't put down any money, against ANY unfamiliar car. ESPECIALLY A TURBO DSM.

If he is truly stock, you will win. If he put $1,000 into that engine, you won't touch him. I'd make a friend with a DSM guy, and bring him along to look under the hood. 4g63's can be potent (13's) with almost nothing in mods.

I forgot to say, he claims 10 boost.

Is that even a factor....?

Well nvm I need to get someone familiar with 'em before I decide...

if its stock and you get a few cars head start, you'll win.

with a virtually undetectible boost controller and no air filter, you'll definitely lose.

i wouldn't put money on it either way.

good luck!

Screw it, race him anyway... you can afford to lose $25 bucks even if you do lose.

10 is stock for 1st gens, 12 for 2nd gens. Stock turbo's on the 1st gen has way more potential than the one for 2nd gens.
