Installing A Strut Bar?

putting a strut bar on?
Ok...I'm gonna sound like a moron, but when putting a strut bar on do you just take the nuts off of the strut, put the bar on and put the nuts back on...and then do the same to the other side? I just don't want to screw anything up So I'm trying to be extra careful.

Jacked up....
Would too much tension be put on the strut bars if you lift the car on a jack and then apply the bar? I mean lifting it up would release tension long enough for the application sure, however when the car is back on ground it would have to handle a lot of stress not to mention performance driving? Best explanation......

If you decide to jack up the car for installation... it will relieve the stress on the frame and then when you lower it again with the bar; the bar will be pre-compressed which will make your car even stiffer. That's what I did when I installed mine.
Note that for this to work you have to jack up the car from the centerline and this can be quite unstable. If you decide to not jack up the car from the centerline and use the regular lifting points on the sides you might as well not lift it up at all since the frame will still be loaded.
Hope this helps.
