Hey whats good? i am having a very tought time taking off my axle nut, i need to replace my studs and cant do it cuz i cant get that nut off, it is torqued to 181 foot lbs., do i have to buy a impact wrench?

Just get a huge breaker bar and slide some piping over it. Have someone lay on the brakes while you jump on the pipe.

It probably helps a little if you unstake it first and then try and break it free.

I never had a problem with these nuts unless some ahole decided to use red loctite. Imagine, the thing needs ANTI SIEZE, not RED LOCTITE! And, someone decided ( more than once ) to use it on the SPLINES!!!. Geeze. Trust me, the little stake in the nut is the least of the problem. Use a long breaker bar or get an impact with some poop.

i have tried to get my 230lb step dad to tug on it with a pipe and breaker bar, but no dice, so i guess an impact huh?

Tug harder! I weigh 140 on a good day with bricks in my pockets, soaking wet and I single-handedly got my axle nuts off with a 2 ft breaker bar.

If you are still stumped, take it to a shop where they have get it off with an impact and then have them tighten it up enough so you can drive it home and remove it easily once you get there. There is no reason to go out and buy an air compressor and impact if you don't have to.

i got it off, a local tire place charged me 35 bucks to replace the studs too, that nut won the battle, but my ride is rollin again! thx for the insight...
