Cold Cathodes in Car?
Hey guys, I am curious to chook up a Cold Cathode set that are usually in computers into my car? Is this possible? A Computer systems powersuppply is DC and it pumps 12V right? Can I hook this up to my car without blowing anything up? If i did, where should I connect it to and use what AMP fuse?

dude they make neon tubes for cars made of better materials than the ones you put in your computer... go into any Auto store or any car part site and look them up... companies like streetglow and varad make the stuff and its not too expensive

Voltage on cold cathodes are 12 volts. You can use a voltage regulator or a resistor to control the voltage. The cold cathodes create a great amount of light without the dangers of neons. Also a 12 inch neon will cost around $20 where a dual 12 inch cold cathode kit can cost from $3.99 and up. Average price around $7.99 for a dual kit.
For the hook up, you'll have to be more specific on how you are going to using the lights. I can hook you up with a schematic drawing on how to hook the lights up for what you want them to do.

the problem with cathods is they are made of glass and are meant to be placed inside a computer that will do little moving around.. plus most cathods (and a $4 a tube that sound like the crappy cheap ones) i have played with a very fragile. just get the car made tubes... they are fused and shielded to withstand some abuse
