Default Help me spend my money!

Alright, I've got a 92 civic DX Hatch everything stock. I've never done anything major to a car before and dont knwo where to start. I've got about $2-3k depending on how long all this will take. Some peoeple have their opinions on manuals but I came across a Haynes which has llots a pictures.

200,000 miles on the car D15B7 automatic. the b18b seems like a good engine but dont know how easy that will be for someone whos never done it before. I dont wanna be cheap on parts but want everything best it can be for my budget. and it doesnt have to stay auto id get better everything if i went manual just have to get used to it all over again.

I want a smooth but strong ride, if you guys know how to spend some cash.

Take that money you have right now before it's gone and get a B16/B18 or you will regret it down the line h:

Couple of choices you have here...
invest on stock market, or
go to vegas and hopefully you'll win a brand-new M-benz.

haha just kidding. yea B18 engine and manual tranny swap would be
a really good choice. B18 runs strong even without VTEC as far as I think.
I'd say go for it.

so you think the B16A and trans would be an easy swap? Id like to have the higher output from the vtec. I think the DX has vtec wiring already... this thing cost 1500-2000? what would i need to get to get this into my HB?

all '92 civics have wiring to the shock towers for VTEC.

the LS(B18B) swap would be better in the long run if you want to go turbo.
B16A is a good swap, but you're going to get killed by GSR(B18C1) swaps all the time.

if you can do it yourself then your 1500-2k might get it done.
check my site my site for a basic how-to on the electrical aspect. be sure to check out the link at the top to the C-speed how-to for the mechanical aspect of the swap.
Its what I used to do mine and it was a lot of help. (the B16a and B18c1 swaps are basically the same)

save yourself some headaches, sell the auto car and buy a manual hatch and start from there

patience. Lots and lots of patience.
Pinoydon has a good point on the headache thing. A manual swap is gonna cost you a LOT of time if you do it yourself. It's not that any one aspect of the swap is going to be extemely hard, but there are SO many little things to do in it to make it work that it may seem overwhelming... at least that is my best guess. I don't know from experience but I've thought about it a good bit.

ill probably go with the B18C1 with auto transmission. Do i need to worry about the o2 sensor? axles? shift linkage? Throttle cable? motor mounts?
If i dont end up doing this myself how much would a mechanic charge?
