Default new clutch needed

i was wondering how hard it is to put a new clutch in a 95 civic. A mechanic said 700 bucks but i know u can buy one for 300 so i was wondering if it a diy job or iff i should fork out the dinero to have the mechanic do it.

1. Very hard to install a clutch on your own. Got to take out your trani. along with other things just to get to the clutch.

2. An OEM cltuch installed should cost around 400-500 bucks because I have paid in the low 4's to get mine replaced.

Do a search for a DIY clutch replacement. There is an excellent write-up on the D-series Civic motor. Read that and determine if you can do it. If not, your best bet is to take it in.

yea well if you're a total gear head then thats the job for you.. right now in school im rebuilding trannies, transaxles, clutches and we're learning about differentials... where are you from? man if you were around here, well i'd love to do it.. you'd just have to pay for the stuff..

I've almost attempted this myself, but removing the drive axles, ball joints, and everything attached to them, seemed a little too much, and I do most everything myself on my car. Even with the FSM, I don't think I'd do it.

actually thats really easy if you have the right tools and equipment to do the job.. heck if you have access to a hydrolic lift, then it would be a piece of cake..

VERY detailed DIY done by me and swaggs21. It was done on a '00, but it's very similar on any D/Bseries motor.
