Default diagnostic and troubleshooting woes.

I don't know how to diagnose sensors..... I think the speed control sensor may be out.
But the haynes manual doesn't specify if it affects my situation.
I have a dead speedometer, odometer, no cruise control, and no overdrive, (AT). I can't understand why all of these could have gone out at once, and I really don't want to have to pay Honda techs to figure it out. I have a check engine light when I slow to a stop, and no idea why.
Once I blew an ACG fuse, but after I replaced it, no more problems there.
Help......

Take it to like a Midas or some type of shop with a scan tool that diagnose for free...so you can see which sensors and what codes are popping up..

Any problems when you drive?

the auto trans has it's own controller. it may be something wrong with that. the VSS and cruise runs though it if I remember right.
For the record... a dead VSS would cause all of those things also.

dead speedometer - no signal
odometer - same drive as speedo
no cruise control - what speed should it set???
no overdrive - how does it know that you're going fast enough to engage it?

what year/type of honda are we talking about here? I may be able to help you though it.
