i think he doesn;t have a problem....stop rolling when trying to engage and put it in a low gear like 2nd before engaging... now if it still grinds then u have a problem

i'm telling u guys, its the clutch disc, it is normal but the clutch disc will be moving ever so slightly forward and when u try to engage reverse gear it'll grind. its normal and isnt worth replacing, i'll look up the exact way of checking it tonight, its in the haynes manual in section 8 under the clutch section.

It's not a clutch problem because he can get into forward gears fine. It's probably the shift mechanism for the reverse idler gear thats causing the problem.

its not a clutch problem but that is what is causing the grinding, has nothing to do with forward gears because u can engage any gear while the clutch is moving, it helps the synchros to have the clutch spinning except on the reverse gear... lol but once again it isnt a big deal, its normal unless uve resurfaced ur flywheel lately or put in a new clutch disc most ppls discs dont completely disengage without a little help by putting it in a low gear.

If it grinds while letting off the clutch pedal then I do put into 2nd or 1st then try again til it works. Oh, and this is from a dead stop too. I'm never rolling when this problem occurs.

I'm pretty sure it's the reverse idler gear thats not engaging properly.

Mine used to do that and also every once in awhile goin into 1st It got better when I got a new clutch cable, Try adjusting yours and see if that helps, if not swap it out for a new one there pretty cheap less then 70 buck at the dealer. It beats having to get the trans changed or repaired.

Reverse does not have a syncro. Like was stated earlier. It will grind especially if you are moving when trying to engauge. If all other gears are fine so is your clutch.

a wierd thing happened to me in my 86 integra, the lever that the clutch cable pulled on broke on my tranny, my dad welded it two times, but it kept breaking, it was a $10 part from acura, but I had to pull my tranny to change it
