B16 is great all around motor for the crx. I got the b18b though cause i love the torque and i want to go turbo. Totally B18c (1 or 5) if you got the $$$. As with any modification, think about what your objectives for your car are first.

yea but not as much boost as a b18a stock for stock, and not as reliable.

Why waste money on a VTEC engine if you are going to boost it. The turbo is all the kick you need at 5500rpms.

I was never a big fan of the turbo n e way. I'd get a vortech if anything. Even though it's parasitic, it's always on.

Not quite. Check the power and torque curves. vortech is a centrifugal supercharger and thus doesnt achieve max boost right away. Even vortechs website says that at low rpms it wont produce much more than stock. By the time it winds up a correctly sized turbo would also be at full boost. If you want always on, get a Jackson Racing setup. They use a Eaton supercharger which has equal boost at all rpms.

An easier way to get more "always on" power i.e. more torque is to get a one of the higher displacing B series (i.e. a B18A or B18B or a B20) and then bore it, add a stroker kit and high compression pistons or any of the above. Actually any of the above will probably give you more low end torque than youll get out of the b16 with a supercharger.
