Do you trust that the seams are sealed? If I understand you correctly, it could be that the seams are not sealed all the way across - you are relying on the "seal" of the "rubber/metal" seam fillers to seat against the roof panels. I don't think that these are to be trusted as a way of keeping the seam beneath dry. If so, why would they have used a sealant on the seam from the factory?

Am I tracking? Or full of it?

Cool! I didn't realize that you raced. I race with my local SCCA also, but with another car - a 1989 Firebird. My REX is my daily driver - gas prices, you know?
