East Coast Engine Swap Shops
Thinking about swapping in a D16Y8 and manual Tranny into my GF's 91 Civic Dx HB. Looking for a reputable shop in the NY/CT area to get more info on the swap itself, parts and pricing. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

The best I could recommend is Rosen Autosport. Dyno'd my car there, and they had some neat things around like a supercharged Golf GTI and a 4th gen Civic wagon with a B18C5
Bad news though,
1) They were in Richmond, VA and
2) They are out of business

No engine is worth swapping unless you do it yourself. I would be almost scared to have an engine swap without the knowledge of how everything in the engine works. The things I learned from doing it myself were amazing. Plus swapped cars will have problems, and unless you understand how it works your going to either have a ****ed up car or a hole in your wallet.

J&E Performance...the guy knows his shit, but like FGH said...u dont know whats up unless u do it ur self...
for all u know it might not start on tuesdays, but if u did ur self u know u gotta jiggle the key then count to 17 after u stomp the brake to get it started....

Well for the DX you need to convert from Dual Point Fuel Injection to Multi Point Fuel Injection. My how-to for that can be found here...

My ZC How-To has basic info on how to remove the engine and all that good stuff so it might be of some help to you...

The only problems you will have with the Y8 is it is an OBD-II engine and 4th Gen Civic is OBD-0 car. You have several choices here. I know they make OBD-0 to OBD-I conversion harnesses that plug and play but I'm not sure about OBD-0 to OBD-II, I think that is a little harder. You'll have to look into it. However I do know you can put the Z6 distributor, fuel injectors, and I guess ECU to make the Y8 OBD-I. So in that case you would be doing quite well. And I think OBD-1 is better for performance also.

FourthGenHatch, great links and info, thanks. But if I'm swapping out the engine in the Dx for the Y8 from a newer Civic, wouldn't that already have mpfi? Also, I too would prefer OBD-I, do they make a OBD-II to OBD-I conversion and could I then mate that to the OBD-O to OBD-I conversion?
