You won't lose back pressure if you run smaller pipe size past the Y-connecter.

And hanging a non-functional muffler is unspeakably :ghey:

FYI: Backpressure is always a bad thing. Air velocity (or, high air velocity) is a good thing. The trick is getting the lowest backpressure with the highest velocity. Too big a pipe, and velocity is lost. Too small, backpressure is too high. True dual exhaust falls under the catagory of "too big."
So true, and so often people get it wrong.

The firebird muffler is probably the best way. HP-Racing makes an axle back that style for the CRX and HB. The y-pipe way probably won't fit under a CRX or Civic very well.

I was under the impression that only V6 Accords got the dual type exhaust.

Well you heard right. Basically any 4 cylinder doesnt need dual exhaust. Now If you think it looks cool whatever thats youre thing. But you wouldnt see much if any of a gain in HP and torque.

My bad. I kinda skipped over the whole backpressure thing he said. I was getting at 4 bangers not producing enough displacment to warrant dual exhaust.
