(yet another) Exhaust Question
In the past couple of months I have sort of taken over my mom's car and autocross it on the weekends. Previously we have had a local shop install generic Napa junk when the exhaust rusted out. The 88 DX has 254k miles on it now and the time has come to replace the exhaust again. I was originally looking at just buying a muffler to put in place but the prices I've seen for some cat-backs are pretty tempting. PaceSetter Monza System Is one I'm looking at, but not quite sure how it sounds. Looking for something under $200 or so and has a somewhat louder and a little more raspy sound than stock, NOT a fart sound. Plans are to do ZC swap within a year or so, depending on how long this motor keeps going. Does anyone have any experience with Pacesetter systems and can you give be an idea as to how they sound?

from what i have heard of Pacesetter systems in that they rust out within a year or two. I'd recommend just going to a muffler shop and getting a magnaflow muffler and piping from them. Should run around $200.

Pacesetters rust very quickly. Don't do it. The only reason they are still in business is because their stuff is so cheap, people who don't know any better buy them and end up having to replace them in 1-3 years. They look pretty gaudy, too.

the pace setter exhaust that I had a few years ago didn't really sound bad it was just terrible quality and the diameter of piping looked to be stock size except for the 3in tip and it eventually rusted out like a stock exhaust and fell apart don't waste your money.

yea, i have heard the same about pacesetter. i had greddy mx on my CRX, and i was really happy with it. Its made of stainless, and the muffler fits up in the CRX well, so it wont hang down and scrape. and its a nice sound too. but that runs about 500 bucks :squint:

yeah ive seen the hks for the hatch...i really like how the muffler sits in the stock location...but isnt it a muffler stickin out the back for the rex?...if you have the money i'd recommend the HKS...otherwise i might go with 2.25" piping and a magnaflow muffler in the stock location...
