Default Are 17's too big

Ive heard that you shouldnt put anything bigger than 16's on a crx because it hurts the cars steering and acceleration. I dont know if this is true cause Ive seen acouple of rex' s round town that have 17's and even 18's and they are pretty fast. So If I got lightweight 17's for a crx, do you think it would hurt the handling and acceleration of the car? Thanks

I dunno about speed...but 17's on my 91 hatch rubbed pretty bad in the back when I lowered it

17's and bigger make it look like a 4x4 no matter how much you lower it. There is also a lot more weight to spin in a 17" then in, say, a 13". I think SCC did a test on this, the bigger rims actually dropped the car's overall rated wheel HP.

of course a bigger outer diameter wheel takes more to spin, (basic physics), plus the extra diamter normally means additional weight. i like 15's on crx's but 17's are nice if ur going for looks only. but this is just my opinion check out the wheels on ur car see how u like them, for all out speed i like putting on my 13's every once in a while but then i have absolutely no stopping power

i've heard that 15 or 16s are good ideal cause they have a good amount of sidewall for running hard. and personally i think 15s look fine on a rex.

thats me though

WHAT?!?! This is all crap. I have 17" CP8Rs in black on my CRX and it doesn't look like it has wagon wheels, and they only weigh 12.8 lbs a piece. Get a grip people.

Here is a pic:

yah but then what size low profile tires do u have on there and what do u pay for 1 tire?, im not saying it cant be nice but in my opinion id much rather run 15's and get 195/50 tires for 45-50 bucks apeice

not to mention i burn out tires quickly, and enjoy the lower gear closer gear ratios u get by having ur tires a smaller diameter, with larger tires its a noticable difference in speed on my car.

bigger the rim the harder the engine has to work to rotate wheel. On a sohc 17' are hard on motor........just go with 15/16
