Use a Z6 head, they are a lot easier to find. Not to mention USDM.

Mini-me (n, US Slang)-
Honda D-series SOHC VTEC cylinder head bolted to any SOHC non-VTEC D15 or D16 block. The heads most commonly used are from the D16Z6 or Y8.

Some people try to claim a VTEC-E head (D15Z1) can be used to make a mini-me, but that is not correct as the VTEC-E system works differently then a standard VTEC system.

It grants the benifits of SOHC VTEC, more top-end torque and therefor higher top-end horsepower. Kinda like a cheap D16Z6 swap, but not as good.

VTEC-E is for fuel economy, such as the HX had.

Or the VX for that matter.

To expand, instead of activating a different cam profile, it activates one more valve per cylinder. Below the VTEC crossover on VTEC-E cars, they operate on twelve valves with the other four opening just enough to prevent fuel pooling. Over the crossover point, it behaves like a standard 16 valve DX head by locking them to the "normal" exhaust valves.

Thus, a VTEC-E head cannot be used for a "mini-me" engine
