Default Fuel Lever / Door...

Guys,

The lever that is down on the floor of my hatchback (90) that operates the door to my fuel tank is really starting to sieze up, the last time I got gas I could barely move it.
I removed the little plastic casing around it but it doesn't really give you much access to it, I've tried spraying some good ol' WD-40 in there and it seems to help, but minimally.
What's my next step, how do I fix this annoying little problem...I need gas to go...if I can't get at the tank...oh oh.

Suggestions?

Jason

Default Anyone?

Can anyone help me out here? Or is this something that is going to have to be replaced?

Any suggestions are appreciated...

Maybe your cable is stretched out. You could get a new one which would probably fix the problem. That cable is routed around your 1/4 panel and to the gas door. You would have to take out your interior to get at it.

But would the cable being stretched out make the lever almost immobile? I mean I really have to force it to get it to move...

???

Oh you mean the actual lever. Hmmmm. How odd. Its plastic isn't it? I don't see how it could be rusty. I'll tell you what I'll take a peek inside the back of my car tomorrow (since I have no interior) and see where that cable goes. Perhaps what its attached to can seize up.

Thanks dude...I appreciate it...yah the lever is plastic but I believe what it is attached to is metal, and it is on the floor, it is possible with all the snow and stuff that come into the car in the winter ( I do live in Canada) that the water has gotten into it...it has already made a rusty mess of the seat rails so that my seat will no longer slide...sigh...another problem that I need to solve.

See what you can see for me...it never ends...sigh...

Thanks again,

Jason

Yeah, the cable itself is metal and in a metal sheath I believe. Either replace it or work it back and forth a bunch of times and try to get it to free up.

But I need suggestions on how to get it moving in the first place...if that was the case...

The new cable is $42 plus tax CDN.

This is all I really found, no revelations were made...

The cable goes along the 1/4 panel and around to where the gas door thing is...

And that black cylinder goes into the plunger...

Your best bet would be to just replace the whole assembly I guess.
