I just bought a 89 crx si with a 92/95 patch si engine in it. sohc vtech
I got a few questions...
How come the check engine light is on?
with the ac not on it has a loupy idle..

Around how fast is it with i/h/e?

How come the temp gauge dont work when its warmed up?

When does vtech kick in?

when does the redline start?

is there anytihing i should look out for?

how much hp do these have stock? as in the engine thats in it right now.
i had an 89 crx dx auto, will there be any difference in the insurance rateS?

it has an act clutch in in and is pretty hard to press down, is that normal?

the check engine light might be on if you had an engine swap. check the computer read out. temp gauge might not work if the engine swap wasn't performed correctly. loupy idle might be an aftermarket cam. vtech normally around 3500 to 4000 rpms. redline... i dunno hold the pedal to the floor in neutral and see when the rev limiter kicks in. don't be afraid of the redline... it's a honda.

First things first, vtec= honda engine vtech=telephone

redline 7200
vtec kick in=4800-5400
101 hp to the wheels rated at 130 from factory at crank
98 ft/lb of torque
as for the clutch yes thats normal
insurance rates will be higher

check engine, lopey idle are more than likely do to an improper swap, take it to a shop and have them fix it

Under the distibutor is a sensor coming out of the head, look to see if perhaps there is a wire not plugged into that, because thats what tells you your engine temp.

And if it has an ACT pressure plate it is possible it is harder to press down.

They are not DOHC but in a crx they are pretty quick.......i got 94 ex and run 16.087 in 1/4......not real fast but in CRX better than stock motor.

It feels alot faster than my 89 crx dx auto. I love the feeling of being able to chirp 3rd gear..thats just awesome..the guy told my it has a loupy idle, cuz it needs some sensor on the throttle body. The idle's smooth when the ac's on. I traded him my crx plus 1400 bucks, did i get a decent deal?
