CRX....my friend...
He wants to get an engine swap for his 89 CRX Manual. What engine should he get if he wants to keep it smog legal in the California and go all motor? Thank You

you can do just about anything as long as you swap over ALL the emissions parts, like if you put in a 94 gsr motor, you have to convert to obd-1 and run all the same emissions as that motor. I also know a guy that has passed a LS/VTEC through the state ref, so its all on how much work you really want to do

You also have to run a lot of the USDM parts for the engine such as Header and Intake Manifold. So keep that in mind, if you get a ZC I don't think any other intake manifold bolts up to it (or does '89 Integra one?). But keep that in mind.

So his options are:
B18b
B18C1
B18c5 ????
Those engines will keep me Cali-smog legal right? I dunno how much he wants to put in?
Would I also need to get the same tranny from the engine that he buys? Example if he gets b18c1 would he need to get the GSR tranny or keep the crx one?
