Default Exhaust Leak Question!!!

If i had an exhaust leak from the downpipe to the cat converter, those bolts don't clamp the cat tight enough so i have an exhaust leak, does anyone think that could cause a loss of hp or 1/4 mile time???? any ideas? Thanks

Backpressure is bad. It causes exhaust gas reversion (forcing burned exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber). Common mistake in auto exhaust theory

I can't tighten it good enough to clamp around that good enough, the downpipe end is too big so my pipe from my cat won't go over it at all, so i'm thinking about taking a pipe that fits over the end (it goes from bigger to smaller from the downpipe) and trying to shove my pipe cat converter on it to see if it will make it so i'm not having a leak. otherwise i'd get another downpipe but my o2 sensor is on my downpipe so i guess i can't do that, or can i? any hints?

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying about shoving a pipe into the cat etc etc....but if it's not sealed, it'll still leak.

You can have an O2 bung welded to your new downpipe if you got one w/out any O2 bungs. Just an idea.

u have to find a "happy medium".....too much backpressure=bad.....not enough backpressure=bad(forced induction has different rules).....tighten up what you have or weld it.....
