Default brake ques. for 1stGenCRXer

I was thinking of changing out the front rotors to cross drilled or slotted, not really sure what would be best. I'm planning to auto cross sometime in the near future. Also, is it possible to change the rear drums to disc? BTW, I have an 85 CRX.

Any help I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Cross drilled or slotted doesn't matter, you don't need either one. A set of fresh plain rotors and some good pads will be fine.

Doing a rear disk swap is totally different on an '85 than on the newer cars with an independent rear suspension. You need to swap in a rear axle from a first generation Integra.

thanks for your help. I contacted HAPrecycling in Rancho Cordova, CA. They have the full rear disc conversion for $250. Sounds good to me. It comes with all the mounting hardware, hoses, cables, and new pads.

Slotted or cross drilled rotors......is it for cooling purposes? Is there any other reason to get them? never dealt w/them before.

cooling and giving the gas venting from the brake pads a path to go without interfering with braking performance. With modern performance brake pads though, it's totally unnecessary and just takes away surface area that could be helping to slow you down.

That is what I would think. Just by using common logic.

Thanks!!

Yeah modern pads don't release a lot of gas so it's sort of pointless.
