what small mods will help me out...

I take it by "not noticable" you mean things that will make your car appear stock for the most part. Well, it's definitely not a small task, but things like cams and high compression pistons are completely invisible, and will provide a pretty strong power jump. But, as Honda_pilot said, it won't be cheap, and will involve tearing the engine down to rebuild it.
As far as the standard modifications, you can go with an open exhaust system and equip it with a silencer. That'll help keep you quiet and gain you a small increase in power. Perhaps you could use a cold air intake and paint it black so that it's not so obvious?:dunno:

advance your timming gut the interior, remove dash and get the sound deadening behind the dash, remove your a/c reove bumper lense light(passenger side one) so that more air gets to your filter. remove the cat converter put in test pipe or straight pipe.
things ive been contemplating about ls throtle body
the cheapest mod to do to your car thats free is gutting the car completly of things you dont need. look at my resonator air box thread that mod helps if u dont have an intake on your car yet.
