i'd take a b18c over a b20, assuming that i'm not boosting it. you should be able to break into the 13's fairly easily with a gsr engine.

It's all about the money.

If you have the cash on hand for a B18C GS-R swap, get it, plain and simple. If you get one of those, you will never look back. If you can't afford that, the B20 is a great choice also. The only problem is you would still need to buy a complete B18A/B swap to have all the nessicary parts since the B20B/Z is sold in longblock form only, thus making the swap not too cheap. The best value is the B16, as it is the cheapest road to B series engines, plus later you can swap in a GS-R longblock or save some more cash and build a B20 shortblock to handle VTEC range revs and swap it in place of the '16 block. Franken-motor fun.

start out with a b16a1 for fun...they are cheap and readily available...they are also the easiest vtec b series motor to swap into the ef civics...for $2k you can have a nice b16a in there (with mounts and some mods) and later on if you want to add displacement you can get a b18/b20 block and swap on the items the b16a had
