For the throttle linkage that I have, the stock cable is too large in diameter, and I couldn't get it to coil underneath like it needed to go so that I felt comfortable/confident that it wasn't being kinked. That may be another reason people go with the other linkage setups.
Again, it's no problem, I love my weber setup, so anything I can do to spread the joy I'll certainly try to do.
