First of all there was no EX trim back in 88. Second, he's not you're friend if he's selling the car for $1300, esp. an 88 4 door. Going price for 88-91 Civics are around $1000, well depends on your area.

For the swap you will need motor mounts, wiring for VTEC, convert DPFI to MPFI, cable tranny, axles, and a new hood for any 1.8L+ swaps. For a b16 you won't need it.

BTW I was gonna pick up a clean 91 STD for $800. Another dude selling a one for $300 but it was raped. $1300 is way too high, you should lower the price especially since he's your "friend"

If money is an issue, the B18A/B from 90+ Integras should have more spunk in the civic body then the integra, based purely on weight... that is, if you can survive without VTEC.

BTW, why you selling your RX-7? Too many electrical issues? I know mine honestly has at least 15. It's amazing it still runs.
I don't see why everyone is so worked up with vtec. I mean you have to wait til a certain rpms before you get your full power, kind of like a turbo. Personally I say go with a B18b and then slap a turbo on it. B18b are so much cheaper than B18c and would probably be easier since you wouldn't have to worry about a vtec conversion.

Simple reason. With a VTEC swap, you can use the stock ECU and not have to worry about tuning right away. With a turbo, your first day of running around with NO tuning could [and usually is] your last. Either way you still get more power when you want it, ie- when you put your foot in it.

A 'vette, is that all?:chuckles:

Hmm... I would say a B20/VTEC, sleeved and bored, with some nice low compression pistons, headwork, and a fat-ass turbo with some kind of a stand-alone ECU controlling the mess would suprise him You are expecting a lot, but with these little B-series DOHC buggers, the sky is the limit.
