Default 1992 B18a/b into 89 DX hatchback??

I'm posting this question for a friend. He wanted to know how hard it would be to do a conversion. He wrecked his 1992 GS Integra and just bought a gutted 89 DX hatch. How hard is the swap? What items will he need(mount kit, axles, linkage)? We really are lost because we stick to 92-up cars. I know nothing at all about the older Civic and CRX swaps other than the easy ZC, the newer SOHC VTEC motors, and the 1st gen B16a1. Other than these 3 swaps in the CRX, we have no clue. Thanx in advance for the replies.

I know you all have probably already talked about this. Sorry in advance.

The swap is the same as it would be for a B16. Mount kit, axles, wiring, and shift linkage. The concern used to be about hitting the hood with the valve cover, but most of the mount kits you can get now allow the hood to clear anyways.

It's no harder than a ZC swap minus you need mounts and linkage.

Wouldn't that be true for 90% of the swaps?!

Well wiring is quiet simple. Sohc VTEC has 50 wires, ZC has like 6. So you see...

Would I need custom axles or the axles from the Integra. Also would I need custom shift linkage or cut Integra linkage. Thanks in advance.

You also need to convert to ODB-1 if you run a 92 Integra engine since they went to ODB-1 starting 1992.

i agree with eveything except the computer...u have to rmeber that the obd computer is meant to read the car and everything bout it so whether u believe it or not it has to know what braking and what tranny are being used so keep that in mind for a well running car.....i would say have a custom chip made for and obd-2 comp
