Default ECU honda GURUS LOOK AT THIS QUESTION

ok I have a good question for all of you
OK.......

Take your wireharness in your 88-91 civics/CRX's and match them up to your SIR harness and there is not much of a differance......right

DX/std- the differences are DPFI and no VTEC
SI/HF - the differences are VETC

So if I where to take my factory ECU from my USDM car and take the chip out of the ECU and take a chip that was programmed with the JDM SI-r program(PWO or PR3) or any other coppy chip on E-bay that would only cost me 25-75 dollars wouldnt that make my USMD ECU act as a JDM ECU?

I dont know but everything is seeming to line up to me and the price is right so why not??????

Thank you for your time

Please if lets keep the comments nice if I am totally off base but it looks to me if you would be able to do that if you ask me......

Thank you for looking
Eric

If you use an Si ecu, you can do it. If you use a dx, I don't believe it will work, and I KNOW it won't work in a dx. There isn't the wiring in the car to support the mpfi even with the new ecu.

i doubt it will work in any of those computers. i built an ls/vtec for my friends 90 integra and it uses pretty much the same computer as the crx. just the fuel and ignition maps are different and the rev limiter is different. anyways he was trying to do the whole re-chipping thing but my friend who does it said he couldn't change a non-vtec to a vtec for that kind of computer. im not saying all chips are like that but thats how it works over here in "my neck of the woods" (kinda corny but whatever).
