Default Need hlp with GF's 91 Civic DX

My girlfirend's 91 DX recently developed a problem where the alternator was not charging the battery. She had that relaced and yet, she still gets the battery light all the time. She doesn't know what the problem could be as the battery is practically brand new also. There are no modifications to the car except for an intake. She doesn't want me modify the car until she gets a new one so the car is stock. What could be the problem? Can it be corroded terminals or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you had the new alt. tested yet? The new one may be bad. Autozone does it for free. Free is good.

Definately do what Knight said, and have the battery checked too with a load test, you might have gotten a dud. Oh, I had a thought too, maybe it's not either one, is it possible that it might be the actual signal mechanism (ie. the battery light) that has some kinda fritz to it...one thing I've discovered is with these cars is ALWAYS look at the thing you wouldn't think it shoul/could be.

Reset the ECU, see if that fixes it.

Make sure none of your fuses are blown, might cause it to light up.

i bought an autozone alternator, it was fine for about two months then it went bad. but the weird thing is that when i had it tested at autozone, it came up as good. i told the guy ho wmuch of a pain it was to change the alternator so he just gave me a new one, i have had no problems with the (2nd) replaced one.

Make sure the main terminal nut on top of the alternator is tight. Sometimes that nut will back itself off. It'll throw that alternator light and not charge the battery too........

<--- Who has the worst luck with alternators. To date is on his 4th replacement alternator, which now sounds like it's gonna explode. Who has had that nut back off about 3 times, 2/3 times leaving me stranded b/c the battery died. Who has also had the lower alt. bolt FALL OUT going down the road.......ugh
