Default Civic EF question

I'm in the process of buying a 1991 Civic EF Si model.

It comes with a JDM ZC engine but that is not enough power for me. (my daily driver is a NOS powered Benz)

newayz I hear of crazy swaps here and there so can I replace the block w/ B20 or B18? Or does it require a lot of other parts such as boring it out, cylinder stuff, blah blah.

I know it has 130 hp and 130 torque.

I'm also putting cold air intake, NOS, headers, and exhaust on it. I got my carbon fiber hood, and rims waiting

If I can't increase the displacement, I guess I'm going turbo. I wanted to turbo after increasing the displacement though. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

ZC has like 130hp, but only about 111ft-lbs, not 130.

The ZC is a d-series engine. Parts from a d-series and b-series are not interchangable, so you can't put the B18/20 block on that ZC head.

If you want a crazy engine build a CRVTEC. Thats a CRV's B20 block with a B18C5 or B16A (or any) VTEC Head. It's good for about 200hp (or more) and 200ft-lbs of Torque. Easy 12 second car in a EF.

200 ft-lbs? 130-135 ft-lbs would be more reasonible. Hondas are not exactly torque monsters, even in CRVTEC hybrid form. CRVTEC EFs are indeed sweet cars, though.

damnit so there isn't much N/A possibilities with the ZC motor? I don't want to turbo such a 'small' engine. I think the minimum is 1.8 Type R engine or the B20 head.

Oh well, we'll see how it performs w/ the NOS

Actually you might want to look into turboing an Integra LS(B18B) engine. They come stock with 140hp/127 lb/ft tq. and with a compression ratio of 9.2:1 they are very boost friendly. Plus there are plenty to be found since most everyone else want's to do a Type R or GSR swap. Not to mention they are cheaper. Probably something you might want to consider.

Turboing a ZC isn't that bad at all. I have ridden in one and it screams. I am in the process of turboing my ZC. Don't understimate it.

Definately don't go NA w/the ZC. You'll spend a boat-load of cash and get absolutely no where.

I would turbo the ZC. Mine runs glorious.

what set up are you using?

so I can't increase the displacement any higher? like putting another block or head on it?

you should swap the old d15 back in and turbo it, prove em all wrong.

haha! maybe when I buy another Civic, I'll keep the D15 stock.
