Default 88 hf cat??

I ripped out my AC today. While doing that i decided to do away with those heat shields on the manifold and downpipe and i came across what i guess is a catalytic converter right there in the front. I never had a car with a cat right on the downpipe and was wondering how can i eliminate that? I am guessing a header would do away with it. if so where is the cheapest one i could get and does that connect the same place at the bottom where the cat mught be otherwise? Because i think my Si had its cat under the car.

Thanks

It depends if you have emissions testing or not. The HF's and the 92-95 CX's have that style of exhaust manifold, there might be others too, but those are the two I know of.

The STD has them to. The closer the cat is to the engine the easier it is to heat up and the more efficient it is and produces less pollution.
