Default No Reverse after tranny rebuild

I just recently bought a used transmission, replaced the infamous input shaft bearing and swapped it out with my old transmission. The trans I bought was in great shape, low miles, and runs great but I don't have reverse. Is there a common mistake that people make when re-assembling? Ya I know I will probably have to tear the thing down again!

common mistake would be putting the reverse idler gear in upside down

Got it in to reverse today, it really loosened up after the initial engagement....and driving it around the neighborhood for a couple of blocks, what a weird way to get laughed at! Anyways just for the thread, I spoke with some transmission specialists. If you don't use your parts cleaner when handling any of the internals, it is going to be a pain in the rear almost every time after assembling. Lesson learned, think clean!

yeah a little bit of dirt inside a motor/tranny can cause chaos!
