Default Swap question(mostly about Tranny)

Alright,I just picked up a 91' CRX HF.
She's in good Condition and everything
Sad thing though,shes automatic
and I want more power...so I have a question
Is it possible to install a vtec engine with automatic transmission?
bc i dont wanna go through throuble of swapping out to a 5 speed
but could I swap directly in a K20 or B16 if I got them in Automatic transmssions?
Dont hate on it please, its just a question

Why do you want to stick with an automatic? Even if you swap in a stronger D-series motor, the HF tranny is geared for fuel economy, not acceleration.

No matter what swap you do, you will need the ECU to match the engine w/ manual or automatic. The HF tranny won't be any good for a B or K-series swap because it doesn't bolt up.

Figure out exactly what your goals are and do a search on the swap. There are hours worth of reading on this subject. Good luck.

CRX HF didn't come with automatic transmission - are you sure it isn't a DX?

it might be DX,idk, its automatic though
but no

im asking

if i got the transmission and engine from a Integra LS
with the b18's

is there someway I could swap it in
plus keep it automatic

I know I gotta swap ECU
and stuff
But is it a direct swap
like no custom fabricating?

yes! this is a direct swap
you will need
Engine B18a1(90-93 acura integra LS )
Engine mounts
Automatic Transmission(90-93 acura integra LS )
Axles
ECU(from a automatic transmission)

this is a straight forward swap from my understanding.
I think the only issue would be the axles(they dont fit exactly) you have to pull out some metal dust rings from inside of the spindal. Then they will fit.

wire it up and go!

i believe you will find that the B-series automatic transmission is longer than the manual transmission and will not fit due to interference with the frame rail on the passenger side - you would also need to convert the wiring from DPFI to MPFI in order to do the swap - the DX is DPFI

Of course you will need a motor mount kit for any B-series swap since it is not a direct drop-it swap. You can't use your stock mounts or the integra mounts. Check with Hasport about their kit to make sure it works with an automatic transmission.

Since it is mentioned above that there may be a clearance issue with the automatic tranny taking up more space, you may have to bend, cut, weld and/or hammer the frame rail and engine compartment to make it fit in.

I have a feeling you think this is going to be cheaper/easier than it really is. Good luck anyways.
