ACtually you have to drop the tank to replace it

Thats correct. If possible, try to have an empty or near empty tank to make it easier for you.

they are right. I went to look at it was bugging me.

since you are dropping the tank. make sure it's empty or very close to it, and MIGHT as well clean the inside. you be surprised the kind of junk a 15+ year old gas tank will have if it wasn't cleaned before.

1. Put the rear of the car on jackstands
2. Place a jack under the tank (centered but closer to the rear)
3. Remove the 2 tank tie straps
4. Lower the front of the tank down (front being closest to the rear) with the jack.
5. Be sure not to kink any lines, unbolt the "cap" on the drivers side where the pump is. It is done easiest if you remove the drivers side rear wheel.
6. Pull out the pump and reinstall the new pump in reverse order.
