B16 vs zc
I've been looking at 1/4 miles for both b16 and zc engined rexs and hatches. I am wondering why it seems that the zc is just about as fast as the b16 cars. Is the price difference justifiable. I know the basics of each swap zc simple b16 a bit more expensive and maybe more complicated but what are the benefits to choosing either. I know 130 hp vs 160 and the whole vtec thing. I'm by no means a street racer I play around on the highway sometimes but thats about it. What are the important things to consider when choosing what to swap in. Sorry this is so long and off the point it just seems to me that getting into a b16 may not be all its cut out to be in terms of everyday driving and price. Please give me your opinions pros and cons especially you guys with these engines.

zc might be the better way to go since the money that you'll save on mounts and other miscellaneous things could go into a turbo for your zc! but if you have deep pockets and some extra patience, then go for the b16.

Well ZCs have bad reliability, and plus parts are hard to find for it. With B16A you have probably the most parts available for any engine and I never really hear anything bad about them.

4thgen, where did you hear that ZC's were un-reliable? I've heard nothing but good things about them.

zc 700 or so small wiring changes needed to work. b16 1000 + mounts and new clutch and other misc crap. For someone who just wants a power boost but is more interested in almost perfect handling and balance does the b16 justify the higher price. For the price of one b series swap you could almost buy 3 zc motors.

the cheapest i have seen a b16a1 for is 1150. Then hasport shift linkage is 150. Mounts wholesale run 349. wiring harness runs 250. I can get ZCs for 500 all day long and then with the remainder 1400 you could make a sick ass turbo kit including FMIC, ugraded fuel, and electronic boost controller and turbo timer. Ccould run around 8 or 9 psi at the track with stock zc internals with the upgraded fuel in a rex or hatch and will most definitely be in the low 13s with slicks. Now the b16 in a rex or hatch you will be at mid to high 14s. You take the pick
